Billboard has released their annual rankings of the Top 40 highest-earning musicians of the past 12 months. Live performances were still the biggest earnings driver which is one of the reason Kenny Chesney came in at No. 5, and ranks as country’s highest earner on the list. Country artists made up nearly half of the Top 20.
The chart was compiled using a method that calculates various sources of income including earnings from touring, music sales, publishing royalties and revenue from digital music and video services for downloads, as well as on-demand and noninteractive streaming.
